Konnichiwa, minasan!
Ok, so.. This isn't actually a review, because I'm nowhere near done this inch thick book.. I'm only in the middle of Chapter 4 [They are really long chapters D= ..]
Well... I just wanted to say... how awesome it is.
There's a dude named Aaron in it, ok? And he has strange dreams [I forget what of, I started the book/first chapter a couple months ago, been having major delayed time to read it] all the time, and~
Well, he's a Nephilim. Nephilim means "Fallen". So, in other words, Aaron is .. basically, The Fallen~ A Fallen Angel. [I should write a story called The Fallen Angel *gets a million ideas within 10 seconds*]
Anyway.. Aaron can understand, and speak ANY language, even if he's never heard of it before, or has even learned it. Like, there's this girl in the story, whom he liked, and she goes to his school. She speaks Portuguese. Aaron has never learned that language before, but he can understand what she and her friends are talking about, and he's spoken to her in the language before, without knowing he was doing it 'til Vilma [the girl] said something.
Another time, he was at a library shaped like a shoe or something... No, that was before the library.. He was inside, and this dude was staring at him. He soon comes over to Aaron and speaks to him in another language [I forget which one, I think its the Biblical language, called tongues.. ---I've heard it in person, too.. Its strange....How? I was a Christian and forced into church for 12 years, and at the last church, the best church, we went to; we often had services with alot of praise and worship and strong, heartfelt sermonous words and beautiful piano-music... That it caused some people to go to the front in prayer at the Altar and cry with praise as they spoke in Tongues---] and Aaron could understand him, responding in the same "language"..
Um... He can also understand animals. Again, i.o.w., if his dog, Gabriel, barks, he can understand what he's saying. Right now in the story, he and Gabriel are back at that shoe-shaped building [Aaron called it the Common], outside playing with a tennis ball.. And Aaron's playfully teasing the dog *Gets yaoi-innuendo ideas...*, and whatnot~ And everything that Aaron and Gabriel are saying, its making me laugh / smile, because its funny, and cute.. I'll write down a bit what's going on..
'What was I thinking?' Aaron scowled to himself. He pulled back and let the tennis ball fly.
Gabriel bounded across the common in hot pursuit of the bouncing ball. "Get ball," he heard the dog day in an excited, breathless voice as he grew closer to capturing the fluorescent yellow prize. It was a beautiful spring morning, with just the hint of winter's cold that only begrudgingly begun to recede a few short weeks ago. The wind still had a sharpness to it and he zipped his brown leather jacket a little higher. Gabriel cavorted with the ball clenched tightly in his mouth. Since his strange ability to communicate with the dog manifested, Aaron was amazed at how little it took to make Gabriel truly happy: a scratch above his tail, a piece of cheese, calling him a good boy. Simplicity. 'It must be pretty awesome to get so much from so little, he mused as he watched the dog gallop toward him. "Give me that ball," Aaron demanded, playfully lowering himself into a menacing crouch. Gabriel growled; the muscles in his back legs twitched with anticipation. Aaron lunged and the dog bolted to avoid capture. "C'mere, you crazy dog," he said with a laugh, and began to chase the animal. There was a part of him that really wasn't too disappointed they hadn't seen the old-timer [A.N: The guy who spoke to Aaron in tongues... That's the old-timer Aaron's referring to]. It meant a reprieve from serious thoughts of recent events, the weird questions with probably equally weird answers that he wasn't quite sure he was ready to hear. He snagged Gabriel by the choke chain around his neck and pulled the growling beast toward him. "Gotcha," he said as he leaned close to the dog's face. "Now I'm gonna take that ball!" Gabriel's growl grew louder, higher, more excited as he struggled to free himself. Aaron grabbed the spit-covered ball and pried it free from the dog's mouth. "The prize is mine!" Aaron proclaimed as he held the dripping ball aloft. "Not prize," Gabriel said, able to talk again now that the ball had been removed. "Just ball," Aaron wrinkled his nose in revulsion as he studied the slime-covered ball in his hand. "And what a ball it is," he said. He watched the dog's head move from side to side as he tossed the ball from one hand to the other. "Bet you want this real bad," he teased. "Want ball bad," Gabriel responded, mesmerized by its movement. Aaron made a move to throw it, hiding the ball beneath his arm, and the dog shot off in hot pursuit of nothing. He laughed as he watched Gabriel searching the ground, even looking up into the air just in case it hadn't fallen to earth yet. "Yoohoo!" he called to the dog. And as Gabriel looked in his direction, he held the ball up. "Looking for this?" Surprised, the dog charged back toward him. "How you get ball back?" he asked with amazement. Aaron smiled. "Magic," he said and chuckled. "Magic," Gabriel repeated ina soft, canine whisper of wonderment, his eyes still stuck to the ball. The dog suddenly became distracted by something beyond Aaron. "Who that?" he asked. "Who's who?" Aaron turned around.
And there you go! That's about 3 and half pages, that I typed while reading the book [Didn't look at the screen while I was typing.. I was looking at my book while typing xD .. ]
Ha ha, you don't get to know "who that is". >=D
If you reaaalllyyy wanna know, though~ I could tell you, if you ask. ^^
Anyway.. Yeah, it's a good book. Now, I'ma go get an ibuprofen and motion-sickness pill, because my stomach really hurts. = /
And then, I'ma eat my cup o' noodles and drink mah epicly-delicious coffee!!
Later, people!
